Planning Committee

The Planning Committee has the primary role to represent the faculty at Planning Sub-Meet and Confer. Sub-Meet and Confer includes representatives from the administration and other bargaining units, and we work closely with all divisions on many aspects of institution-wide planning. This regularly includes activities such as:

  • contributing to the development and monitoring the implementation of the University strategic plans

  • participation in campus facilities planning and the University contract process

  • formulating and guiding campus-wide planning processes, such as Strategic Budget Planning

  • reviewing initiatives that have broad institutional implications, such as the New Schools Initiative

As needed, the Planning Sub-Meet coordinates with the Budget and Assessment & Evaluation sub-meets to assist in institution-wide decision making.

Time commitment: Typically, Planning Sub-Meet and Confer meets once a month for one hour. A Joint meeting of the three sub-meet and confer groups is typically held once each semester. Members of the Planning committee frequently have opportunities to volunteer for ad hoc work groups who formulate the more detailed aspects of planning, which are then brought forward to the full group. The FA committee members generally meet only on an as-needed basis, as much of the needed communication can be accomplished via e mail.
