3. Discussion of proposed policy of priority

a. Concerned about showing any group preferential
treatment, especially in high-demand courses
b. Discussion of the difficulties of being involved
in university-sponsored activities and scheduling courses to
accommodate involvement in the activity
c. Discussion that if priority is on academics, then
priority registration would allow students to schedule courses to limit
absences from classes.
d. Motion to approve the policy “as is” : MSF
e. Motion to approve the policy contingent on the
following conditions : MSP
i. Identifying Procedures steps 1 and 2 as criteria
for selection of priority registration
ii. Remove the sentence “This group would include
student-athletes, forensics students, theatre students, and music
students.” Rationale: No groups should be “grandfathered” into the

student groups wishing priority registration ….” Rationale: Meets the
expectations established in 3eiii.
