Notes
Present: Rose Marie Ley, Yueh-Ting Lee, Chris Mickle, Jim Grabowska,
Lynne Weber, Glen Peterson, Sean McGoldrick, Susan Coultrap-McQuin,
John Thoemke
1. Concern was expressed regarding the low attendance at the last
several meetings of this group.
2. The group discussed the Enrollment Management Plan, which has been
completed and forwarded to President Davenport. Susan
Coultrap-McQuin had served as convenor of this task force, and gave an
overview of the changes that had been incorporated in response to the
feedback provided to the task force during the summer and fall of
2003. Some of these included the addition of a vision statement
added to the beginning of the report, and the addition of assumption
statements regarding the need for sufficient spaces on campus to
continue to effectively serve all students (#3), and regarding MSU’s
primary service to undergraduate full-time students (#4). She
also noted that the assumption regarding the increasing role of
extended studies had been clarified (#6). A key aspect of the
plan is the establishment of a permanent Enrollment Management
committee to oversee and assess the implementation of the plan.
As the group discussed the plan, the following points were noted:
• A suggestion that the
Enrollment Management committee should include disability status as an
additional consideration in promoting increased diversity on
campus. This is consistent with statements made in the draft plan
of the Diversity Task Force.
• The importance of keeping facilities master planning
in step with growth.
