Notes
Present: John Thoemke, Rose Marie Ley,
Mark Johnson, Yueh-Ting Lee, Chris Mickle, Maureen Prenn, Cindy Janney
1. Minutes of the November 12 meeting were approved.
2. John Thoemke provided an update on the Priority 5 Task Force
(Enhancing Academic Excellence in Undergraduate Program Studies).
The group started meeting late in the fall semester, so there is little
to report at this time. The task force has divided into working
groups for this semester. The plan is to have a draft report
available for campus review by April 30. We will arrange for a
more complete report from this task force later in the semester.
3. Discussion of implementation of campus master plan. This is
based on the report from Sean McGoldrick last fall, particularly
regarding the various proposals for addressing traffic and parking
concerns. These issues have come to the forefront in the context
of the new development in the University Square area, and the desire of
City and County officials to expedite Stadium Road improvements
intended to increase safety. Sean was unable to attend today’s
meeting, but will be invited to the next meeting for further
discussion. Members of the Planning sub-meet have expressed some
concerns about whether some of these proposals are consistent with the
master plan or not.
4. Discussion of agenda items for the remainder of this semester.
Intend to continue reviewing and discussing the work of the task
forces, consistent with the charge of this sub-meet. The
co-chairs will work together to draft a tentative schedule of topics
for the remaining meetings of the semester.
