Sub Meet Notes
12/07/04

Present: Terry Fogg, Steve Gilbert, Avra Johnson, Nanette Johnson-Curiskis, Judith Luebke, Warren Sandmann, Mahbubur Syed

I.    11/02/04 Meeting Notes: Meeting Notes were approved as submitted.

II.    Draft PR & A Goals: General comments about the PR&A Committee Goals focused upon enhancing the “assessment culture” at MSU,M. It was suggested that the Committee continue to delineate how assessment contributes to professional development. Discussion also addressed the concept of further developing a “reward structure” for all university levels (faculty, department, college) to further assessment throughout our institution. It was suggested that the PR&A contact the Professional Development Committee to explore a joint effort in sponsoring a Spring Semester Workshop on assessment and professional development.


III.    Spring Semester Meeting Schedule: Due to class time conflicts, several PR&A committee members will be unable to meet at 4:00 p.m.  on Tuesdays for Spring Semester. After collecting available meeting times from all members, Committee Chair Luebke will attempt to determine a meeting time for Spring Semester that best meets the members’ schedules.

IV.    HLC Request: Warren Sandmann reported that representatives from the HLC Self-Study Committee would like to meet with the PR&A Committee early Spring Semester to discuss the HLC data collection process & how the PR&A may assist. Don Larsson, Co-chair of the HLC Committee will be invited to our first meeting of Spring Semester.


V.    Other: One of the roles of the PR&A may be to encourage use of the assessment data base. During Spring semester, Tracy Pellett will present more information about the data base to the Committee.
