PROGRAM REVIEW & ASSESSMENT
FACULTY SUB MEET AND CONFER
September 29, 2003 Meeting
4-5 PM, CSU 244
The Program Review & Assessment Sub Meet and Confer met on April 4, 2003. Faculty members in attendance were Judith Luebke, Nina LeNoir, Steve Gilbert, Mahbubur Syed, and Avra Johnson Warren Sandmann was the administrative representative. Tracy Pellett was also in attendance.
Minutes from the April 8, 2003 were
approved.
Sandmann updated the members on changes
to assessment
materials now on the Academic Affairs website, and on changes in
expectations
regarding assessment of the Higher Learning Commission (formerly NCA). What were formerly known as Levels of
Implementation have become the Assessment Matrix. Criteria
for accreditation regarding assessment, which will
apply for MSUÕs accreditation process for 2005/2006 include a
greater emphasis
on providing appropriate documentation and on using assessment to
provide
strong evidence of student learning and meeting goals.
It is expected that a member of this
group will work with the planning group as documentation is prepared
for the
site visit.
Ways in which our group can assess the
campus assessment
culture were discussed. Miller,
Pellett and Gilbert will work on developing questions for a survey,
based on
suggestions for this group. How
and when the survey will be distributed and analyzed will be discussed
at a
future meeting.
The Program Review cycle was discussed. Each department should update is
assessment plans in conjunction with its regular program review and/or
accreditation cycle.
On October 1, Pellett will be addressing
the Academic
Affairs Coordinating Council to provide a summary of assessment data
from last
yearÕs Assessment Cycle. Sub Meet
members will be provided with packets also, and faculty committee
members will
get copies of their respective collegeÕs report.
The meeting of the Sub Meet was adjourned at 4:50 p.m.
