The Program Review & Assessment Sub Meet and Confer met on September 27, 2002 at 7:35 am. In attendance were Judith Luebke, Steve Gilbert, Nina LeNor, Mahbubur Syed, Jackie Vieceli, René Hersrud, and Howard Miller.
Warren Sandmann, Faculty Coordinator of Academic Assessment, was introduced to the group. Sandmann’s role as a support resource for departments and for the Sub Meet was discussed.
The proposed assessment workshop, previously discussed by email correspondence, will be held on November 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. At this workshop, Reports on General Education Assessment Results (Categories 1a, 1b, 1c, 3 and 4) and Surveys of Entering Freshman will be given. This workshop will be held in conjunction with the meeting of chairs.
New notebook information was distributed to committee members.
College assessment results were distributed to college representatives. Ways to encourage publication and/or dissemination of assessment results of academic programs were discussed. NCA recommends that assessment results be publicly available. No conclusion was reached regarding whether such public availability should be voluntary or required or how results would be disseminated. Faculty representatives were encouraged to get feedback from their respective colleges. LeNoir will get feedback from the Faculty Executive Committee.
The draft letter regarding the lack of Honors Program representation was reviewed and approved by the Sub Meet.
A report on the Evaluation of State of Assessment
on
Campus was distributed by Hersrud and Sandmann., This will be discussed
at
our next meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 am. The next meeting is scheduled for Oct. 11, 2002.
