Program Review & Assessment Committee
Minutes
Tuesday 24 August 2004
9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.

Present: Terry Fogg, Steve Gilbert, Avra Johnson, Nanette Johnson-Curiskis, Judith Luebke, Mahbubur Syed

I.    Welcome & Introductions: New member Nanette Johnson-Curiskis was welcomed to the Committee. Returning members were re-acquainted.

II.    Committee Mission: Based upon an Academic Affairs document (15 August 2002) the Program Review and Assessment Sub Meet is described as “Within Academic Affairs, proposes policies and procedures, serves as program review resource, develops assessment culture, reviews institutional assessment plan.” The Committee mission as a macro focus on program review and assessment was reviewed & discussed.


III.    NSSE Senior Student Survey: Since Dr. Miller was not available to fully explain and describe the NSSE survey, it was agreed to ask for more information about it & then address the request for approval to distribute it through email.

IV.    Committee Goals 2004-2005: It was suggested that one goal for the PR & A for 2004-2005 is to continue to promote assessment culture at MSU,M particularly by focusing upon the “interface” between assessment and promotion and tenure.


V.    Committee Meeting Times Fall Semester: It was agreed to meet the first Tuesday of each month of Fall Semester at 4:00 p.m. Additional meeting times may be scheduled if required by tasks addressed by the PR & A Committee this semester. Meeting dates & times will be:

Tuesday, 7 September 2004, 4:00 p.m.
Tuesday, 5 October 2004, 4:00 p.m.
Tuesday, 2 November 2004, 4:00 p.m.
Tuesday, 7 December 2004, 4:00 p.m.
