Approved Minutes

1. Minutes of  September 13th  were approved.

2. We agreed on the contents of a letter to go out about collecting data on Category 7 and Category 8 courses.

3.    We looked at student appeal for a course substitution. The appeal was denied since this course is not, according to the course description, truly an appropriate substitution. Jim Rife moving, Brandon Cooke seconded. Unanimous decision.

4.    We looked at a student appeal for a course substitution from another school. The appeal is unclear and Ron Nickerson will seek out more information.

5.    We looked at a student appeal for a situation involving quarter-to-semester transitioning. The course does not allow the student to attain the prerequisite number of credits in Category 9. Appeal denied. Gretta Handke Moving, Kellian Clink seconding. Unananimous decision.

6.    We looked at a student request for a course substitution for a history course which was granted for Categories 5 and 8, Gretta Handke moved, Jim Rife seconded, unanimous decision.

7.    The course substitution appeal for the science course was granted. We understand that while the upper level courses (Biol 220 & 230)  were more difficult and challenging than Bio 100, we would encourage the department to consider adding these higher level courses to their general education offerings if they indeed meet general education objectives.

Respectfully submitted,

Kellian Clink .
