Approved Minutes
Present: Johnson Afolayan, Ron Nickerson, Warren Sandmann, Dick
Liebendorfer, Jim Rife, Kellian Clink, scribe
We discussed several proposals for inclusion as Gen Ed offerings:
1) Anthropology 280. Proposed for inclusion in
Categories 7, 9, 11. : The proposal was tabled pending clarification
from the department on two issues. Gen Ed. policy indicates that
a course cannot be in more than two categories, the department needs to
limit its request to two categories. The committee would also
like the department to specifically explain how the course content
meets the goals and outcomes for the relevant Gen Ed
category(ies). Members also observed it is difficult to
accomplish all the outcomes for both categories 7 and 9 in one
course. Dick will follow-up with the department.
2) History 160. Proposed discussion of history
course postponed until Gretta can join us.
3) Military Science 252. Proposed for inclusion in
Category 5. The proposal was tabled pending clarification from
the department. The committee would like the department to
specifically explain how the course content meets the goal and outcomes
for Category 5. Johnson will follow-up with the department.
4) Music 121. Proposed for inclusion in
Categories 1C, 6 and 7. The committee would also like the
department to specifically explain how the course content meets the
goals and outcomes for the relevant Gen Ed category(ies). . Dick
will follow-up with the department.
