1. Approved the minutes from the October 8, 2004
meeting.
2. Teaching and Learning Mini-Grant Applications
• Applications are due to CETL by February 25, 2005
and successful applicants will be notified by April 1, 2005.
There is approximately $33,000 available for all of the grants and
individual grants will be capped at $3000.
• The Faculty Development Committee will serve as the
selection committee; there will not be a Sub Meet and Confer
meeting. We hope to review the applications and make our
selection before Spring Break (March 14-18, 2005).
• This round of mini-grants is the last round
currently funded. However, Stewart Ross is hopeful that President
Davenport will budget for these grants again or that the MSU Foundation
will seek funding from donors to continue the grants.
3. CETL Report
• Stewart Ross provided a written report about CETL’s
activities. The Faculty Resource Guide is now available on the
CETL web site. Christophe Veltsos suggested it also be made
available on CD-ROM.
• Dr. L Dee Fink will conduct a workshop on Friday,
February 11, 2005. He is the author of Creating Significant
Learning Experiences, a book read by members of a faculty learning
community during spring semester 2004. Please ask your respective
Deans to encourage their faculty to attend this workshop.
• The Faculty Teaching Certificate Program (FTCP) and
the Mentor Program will have their final luncheons on May 25, 2005 and
April 21, 2005, respectively. Members of the Faculty Development
Committee will be invited to attend these luncheons.
4. Mini-Grants Rubric
• The committee altered the original rubric designed
by Stewart Ross and Warren Sandmann. Because the announcement
about the mini-grants has already been made, it was decided that we
could not change the criteria or rubric too dramatically for this
round. Christophe Veltsos will send committee members a draft of
the rubric we designed. Please review the draft and respond to
Chris by December 17, 2004.
5. Tenure and Promotion Seminar
• This item was tabled until the next meeting due to
time
