The meeting was called to order at 3:00 pm.
1. October 13, 2003 Meeting Minutes
The minutes from the previous faculty meeting were
not available for distribution and comment.
Nancy will review Autumn’s notes and draft the minutes for
distribution via email.
2. Teaching Fellow Scholarship
Nancy clarified that there is an error on the
scoring rubric. The maximum points that can be awarded are 27,
not 28. Nancy obtained the scores from each of the committee
members. In addition, a rank ordering of the proposals was
obtained from each committee member. Barb contributed feedback
regarding each proposal, but did not have point ratings.
The initial discussion focused on if any of the
proposals should be eliminated because they did not meet our
standards. The discussion focused on proposal 04-01. After
a brief discussion, the committee unanimously agreed that the proposal
did not meet our standards for funding.
Next the committee reviewed each proposal,
identifying strengths and weaknesses. Comments on each proposal
were obtained from committee members. We discussed whether we
should recommend that ten be funded because the funds are available,
even though a few of the proposals are weaker in merit.
Ultimately the committee decided to wait and find out the results of
the Administration’s review before making a definitive determination.
Results:
• Top rated proposals:
04-7, 04-8, 04-9, 04-10.
• Middle rated proposals: 04-5, 04-6
• Low rated, but fundable proposals: 04-3, 04-04
• Questionable proposals: 04-2, 04-11
• Eliminated proposal: 04-01.
3. Next Steps

mean scores

Confer is scheduled for Monday, November 17, 2003 at 8 a.m. in the IFO
Conference Room
